First Post

Hello Everyone,

I have a Important story to tell

DEATH is all-around me I am surrounded by the destruction created by human needs, The area I live in is being destroyed and there is nothing I no anyone else can do about it (Legally). For the past 6 months the City Has been cutting down Beautiful 100 year old trees because they tear up the sewer systems with there powerful roots. As with any other event when human power is compromised we decided to eliminate the competition. I went out to day to go to the beach to take pictures for my wonderful wife and drove down my Old street NE 51st street in Fort Lauderdale the Devastation brought tears to my eyes and pain to my heart. I snapped some photos and wrote a few poems This is that work..

This is The last Tree on the Block, In the Neborhood.. The Last of its kind for miles. A hundred or more years of life destroyed in a few hours of chainsaw massacre.

I weap...

What Next.. ?

» STOP STUDENT VOTER SUPPRESSION

Rock the Vote has worked hard to bring a serious issue to light, and you can help solve it. College students who try to register and vote using their campus residence are being denied their right to vote by local election officials who claim that campus and school addresses are not considered "permanent" residence, despite the fact that in 1979 the US Supreme court ruled that it is unconstitutional to deny someone his or her right to vote based on residency.

The Rolling Stone addresses this problem in their latest issue in an article called "Mock the Vote." You can read the article by clicking on this link:

What can you do to help? Sign Rock the Vote's web petition to your Secretary of State. Click here to view the site's article and send the letter:

Stand up for your rights.

» Make an educated choice...

So elections are coming up fast and most of us are going to be in the position of actually being able to take a stand for what we believe in. Make your vote an educated one. I can't think of anything more frustrating than when someone says... "I'm voting for Nader because I don't care," "I have to vote for Bush... I'm a republican," or even "I'm voting for Kerry because that's what everyone is telling me to do." JESUS PEOPLE! Your vote should be based on what you believe to be the best for the world as a whole... yes the world, not just the US. The president is, after all, the "leader of the free world," right? So please, really think about who you're voting for, whoever he may be, and why when you head out to those polls in November.

"To draw an analogy of sorts, one can liken my political awareness in general to the obese next door neighbor who never ventures from his residence: only in the event of flames springing from the roof and smoke cascading out the windows will this chubby recluse ever see the light of day. Well, the house is burning down, and as I wipe the sweat from my proverbial quadruple-chin, my beady eyes squint in awesome radiance of the sun."

-Alan Blevins in his essay "How F*ed We are Right Now"
